The Sangamon River and Cobble Creek meet at the back of our new place.

Champaign County has many beautiful and well-managed preserves, including in our new town of Mahomet.

The green is nice, but much of this part of the yard had invasive or noxious plants. This is where the prairie restoration is in progress.

It’s nice to have a few habitats: riparian, woodland, forest edge, and prairie (to come). Those lawn circles are either the illustrations of aliens, or where the previous owner swirled fertilizer.

Every season has its beauty. Cold and snow helps keep midwestern ecosystems healthy.
